What does your
local high street say? Are some High street stores an out dated form of
consumerism, with people choosing to go home and order online instead?
This is an
on-going documentary project that explores the changes to our local towns,
focusing on Southend-On-Sea, Essex, and a seaside town that is rapidly losing
its identity. The high street is now mainly made up of fast food restaurants,
empty units, discount stores and betting stores.
I want to visually
communicate this through a series of images alongside interviews that give an
insight into the real High Street.
A series of
postcards have been created, taking the project further, these postcards
include interviews from local residents and store owners, detailing what they
think of the high street and where they see its future.
