'Inspirational Women of North-East England' and 'Love From, Women' exhibitions

Enjoy two complimentary exhibitions at Crown Street Art Gallery. 
Inspirational Women of North-East England: Past, Present, Future
'Inspirational Women of the North East' is a portrait exhibition featuring the work of photographers Bryony Bainbridge and Kami Dodds, celebrating the achievements of women who have played a vital role within the North East, including politician Mo Mowlam, suffragette Emily Davison and explorer Gertrude Bell, alongside women who are currently achieving in different fields of activity, from sport to medicine.  The exhibition celebrates the many women whose lives and work have made a vital contribution to our region.  Some of them are famous names, others have been forgotten or have received little recognition.
IWNE is a collaborative project that would not have been possible without the support, skills and time of volunteers, and the generosity of sponsors.  Local engagement via social media and the press has been a crucial part of the project, and many women feature here as a result of public nomination.  You can nominate your inspirational women on their website www.iwne.org/, which also contains resources for schools.

Love from, Women
WHAT DOES IT MEAN FOR YOU TO BE A WOMAN?
This exhibition from artist Holly Pines, who seeks to challenge traditional visual representations of women.  Holly encourages women to represent themselves as they choose, by submitting a photograph of themselves and telling the world what it means for them to be a woman.  The responses of ten different women are included in this exhibition.
